We came, we saw, we night marketed!

The last Night Market Cleveland event was held near Chinatown in downtown Cleveland. The weather was cool and clear and lots of vendors and denizens came out to experience this FREE family friendly event!  The streets were lined with people playing music, selling wares (think organic drinks, vegan donuts, natural soaps) and sharing information about cultural events and organizations.

We were able to smell the foods and hear the music as we approached the open air market. Our first stop was   @ClevelandArt. We saw a table with photocopies of half of an image of featured art and were asked to draw the other side. We could attempt to match the image on the right side of the paper or come up with something totally unique. My son, who loves visiting the Cleveland Museum of Art, went straight to work on his masterpiece and was rewarded with a cool button. I entered a drawing for a $500 prize while he pinned the button to his jacket.

Our next stop was to a tent that held tons of vinyl records that featured some pretty cool spray paint art on one side. A record with the Batman symbol immediately caught the eye of my little one as he asked about how they were made.

After walking around the market and to get a lay of the land we paid a visit to a few food vendors. We tried some delicious hotdogs wrapped in a warm baked sweet bread, "I Told You So" chocolate chip cookies pulled right out of the oven and cotton candy. 

While strolling through the streets we heard all types of music so we decided to listen in more closely and enjoyed a few performances at the main stage as well. We saw a woman playing a two stringed instrument, I Goggled it and learned it's called an Erhu. We also saw a dance troupe give a great show while dancing to at least 4 different music genres from all over the globe.

We all had a great time and look forward to attending @NightMrktCLE next year!
